Scarlatti – Sonata in D major K96 L465 SCARLATTI DOMENICO / NICHOLAS ELLIS (Arr.)
Flûte, Alto et Harpe Classique
Description :
Best known for his dazzling output of over 500 keyboard sonatas, Scarlatti revelled in invention, wit, and surprise. The Sonata in D major, K.96, sometimes nicknamed La chasse (“The Hunt”), is a brilliant example: full of bright fanfares, quicksilver figuration, and rhythmic playfulness that delights as much today as it did in the 18th century. Transcribed for flute, viola (or clarinet) and harp, the sonata’s crisp clarity takes on new colours. The harp brings sparkle and rhythmic bite, the flute adds brightness and agility, while the viola/clarinet lends warmth and balance. The result is music of charm and humour, reimagined as a light and festive concert opener.
